Skirt number 1 in the 100 Skirts in 100 Days series is pretty nostalgic for me. I decided to start with the very same skirt tutorial that started my sewing adventures 7 YEARS AGO: Twirly Skirt Tutorial by Erin at house on hill road. This simple twirly skirt is so cute and girlie. The tutorial is so easy to follow and the pictures are perfect!
Like many of you, I learned to sew when I had a little girl. I wanted to doll her up with ruffles and explore my creative side. So after perusing some sewing blogs and finding some fun girlie clothes I decided it was time to learn how to sew. Armed with a cheap sewing machine and some fabric, I printed out the very first sewing tutorial I would ever follow and made this skirt…in 2010!Little did I know sewing this Simple Twirly Skirt would open up a serious sewing obsession and endless possibilities to be creative. I can’t even count how many times I have used this sewing tutorial since making that first skirt. It’s a great beginner sewing project that isn’t your typical straight pencil skirt. For skirt #1, I used some fabric I have had for a while…in fact, for ALL the skirts I am using my ever-growing fabric stash. Riley Blake Designs Enchant has been hanging out in my stash for a while now, so I used it to make the Simple Twirl Skirt. In fact, skirt #1 turned out so great, I used the leftovers to make my little niece one, too.
Come see all the skirts I am making for Skirting the Issue by following #100Skirtsin100Days on Instagram.
